Grants for Coaches
To help assist new coaches England Fencing has the Brian Pitman Bursary Scheme.  

The Brian Pitman Bursary Scheme

England Fencing recognises that to start coaching is not easy and some expense will be incurred. To help assist new coaches England Fencing has the Brian Pitman Bursary Scheme.

The main objectives and conditions can be summarised as follows:

The scheme
1. To help and assist a new and developing coach by providing minor financial awards in order to enable them to increase their coaching activity, particularly by establishing new clubs or enabling growth at existing clubs.

2. In general grants will not be given where the coach is seeking only to maintain or improve their personal qualifications and there will be no change to the number of fencers coached as a result of any award.

3. The scheme may also be extended to incorporate other England Fencing support schemes if this is seen appropriate by the England Fencing Executive.

4. Funding to come from monies raised from coach education, monies made available by the England Fencing Executive and that included in item 2 if incorporated into the scheme.

5. Awards to be made by a panel of three members of the England Fencing Executive.

6. Applicants must be members of England Fencing.

Application

2. The application should state clearly the amount being applied for and how it is to be used.

3. The panel will consider the application and their decision will be communicated to the applicant by e-mail.

4. The panel may include terms and conditions with their approval of the award.

5. Applicant to confirm receipt of funds.

Post application

1. The applicant is to submit a regular written report to the Development C-ordinator on progress and development following the award.

2. The successful applicant accepts that they may be required to be included in the promotion of this scheme or England Fencing.

3. England Fencing reserves the right to seek reimbursement of funds made under the scheme if they are not used in accordance with the terms of the application and the award.
