L2 Coach Development Programme Nottingham October – November 2010 

Lead Tutor: Norman Randall

Course Dates:

23 Oct (Induction and personal performance),

30 Oct (FA and SPC),

31 Oct, 13 Nov, 14 Nov, (Practicals)

21 Nov (mock assessment),

28 Nov (assessment day). Venue to be decided.

Charge for full course £275 (venue hire costs have generally increased) (including FA and SPC courses, if you do not need to attend to FA and/or SPC courses please contact the National Development Office for a revised price).

Entry Level Requirement.  The entry level requirement is to hold a L1 or have been fencing at least 18 months with some competitive experience in either club or local competition. Candidates for L1 will be accepted but will be expected to study for the L2. The timetable is arranged to allow candidates to practice in their clubs under the supervision of their club coach and maintain a log which must be signed off by that coach.

Applications. Applicants should send the registration form together with a cheque for the full course fee to Charlie Miller at BF HQ. Applicants may be self-funding, or part or whole funded by their clubs and/or through their County Sports Partnership (Coach Development Officer) and/or through England Fencing (Development Grants)

10:00 – 16:00 (Monday to Friday)

Venue                       

Eltham College, Grove Park Road, Mottingham, London SE9 4QF – Nearest Underground Station is Lewisham (Docklands Light Railway), nearest National Rail station is Mottingham. Teas and coffees will be provided at the venue.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer a First Aid (FA) and Safeguarding and Protection of Children (SPC) course alongside this coaching course. We therefore advise candidates who require FA and SPC qualifications to search for local courses on the Sports Coach UK website (http://www.sportscoachuk.org/workshops.php ) and St John Ambulance website (http://www.sja.org.uk/sja/default.aspx ).

England Fencing Organisation - AGM

Nominations are invited for the role of Non-Executive Director of England Fencing Ltd to take office following the AGM in November (either 20th or 27th - TBD). Attached is a brief description of the functions of a Non-Executive Director - please read it and make sure you are clear on the role.

In order to stand for election you must be 18 or over on the qualification date and gain the approval of at least 15 members who are eligible to vote. Eligible to vote means they must also be 18 or over and a paid up member on the Nomination date. All memberships will be checked!

There are 3 vacancies which arise as follows:-

Ray Stafford was elected as President in 2009 and is therefore no longer eligible to hold another position.

John Haynes and Jed Beardmore have served their initial 2 year terms (under the transitional arrangements) and are standing down by rotation. They are both eligible for re-election.

All nominations must be made on the attached form. You may use as many forms as you wish as long as the total number of members validly nominating you is at least 15.

The key dates are shown below.

Qualifying date 8th October 2010

Advanced Notice: Special Call to all England Fencing Registered Coach Educators

 

All EF approved Coach Educators are invited to attend a Coach Tutor Conference to be held in Nottingham from 17:00 on Thursday 10 June to 16:00 on Friday 11 June (venue tbc). A separate email will be going out to all tutors on the list next week (w/c 17 May) with further details. Items for discussion will be the current school sports organisation and fencing provision, the Lead Tutor scheme, and future plans for the EF coach development scheme.
