Selection Criteria

Selection Rules for Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships January 2009

1. Four fencers will be selected for each weapon, who will fence in the individual and team event.
2. Three fencers will be selected by right from the GBR Junior (International) rankings as published on November 1st 2008.
3. The fencers will be Under-20 on 1st Jan 2009 (born in 1989 or later).
4. The fourth can be selected from the other eligible fencers in the GBR Junior (International) rankings, at the Selectors’ discretion, with reference to all relevant circumstances affecting the fencers ranking.
5. The fencers selected must hold a B.F.A. (England) Licence, and be eligible to fence for England according to the Eligibility Rules of England Fencing.
6. The selection will be subject to ratification by the England Executive, who will take account of any disciplinary or other issues involving the fencers.
7. A fencer can only be selected if s/he has a satisfactory disciplinary record.
8. The team will be published by 7th November 2008 on the England Fencing website.
9. The selected fencers and their parent/guardian must sign the Contract of Cooperation.
10. Any appeals on selection should be made in writing, by 14th November 2008, to the Administrator of England Fencing.

England are always looking to widen the pool of members willing to work with their Teams. Totally voluntary, though travel and accommodation are covered.

The first priority is a coach for the forthcoming UKSG in Bath, but we wlcome applications from ALL officials to provide a pool we can invite from. Please read more for details.

Coaching and Coaching Courses

Please remember that only courses run by approved coaches of British Fencing are approved and covered by British Fencing insurance policy. You are advised to check this before registering on any course and, of course, before paying any course fees.

This statement has been issued by British Fencing, please remember the same criteria applies to fencers wishing to become qualified Coaches registered with England and the BFA. It should be noted that coaches qualifying under a BAF scheme are eligible to register after completing various formalities (CRB clearance, CP course and first aid course)
